Welcome to RAFA INSTITUTE OF DISABILITY CARE STUDIES, Kenya. The school was founded in 2016 after the Director, an Occupational Therapist wanted to solve care challenges experienced while administering treatment to his patients who were mainly home-based or attending special schools.


This pioneering training in high quality Special Needs Care for PEPLE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS has merged modern medical approaches to produce an effective 8 week theory course, 6 week practicum based curriculum with focus on the care of children, adults as well as the elderly who have physical, mental or in some situations both physical and mental challenges.

Outcome of Our Intervention


  • Reduced cost of care and mortality rates among those affected. 
  • Reduced causes of Depression among patients and family members of those affected. 
  • Increased numbers of youth getting employment. 
  • Decreased number of re-hospitalization due to improve home care. Improved quality of life among those affected. Special schools and homes for the aged are able to run smoothly due to better trained stuff. 
  • Patients are able to regain independence in a shorter period after proper care Parents and families with Special and Needs children find comfort in knowing they have a caregiver who understands their children
About Us

We have merged modern medical approaches to produce a 3 and a half months long course. The caregiver- student will learn how to competently take care of a patient with special needs, at home, special school or hospital set-up. Lack of properly done Home Based Care, as its commonly referred to, can interrupt normal life programs and for this reason that we at RAFA HOME CARE CENTER have designed a course that trains in skills to tackle this particular challenge..

Scope of care

Our Special Needs caregivers are trained to understand causes and effects (social and physical) of common disability conditions- This ensures comfort, preventing further deterioration of the conditions where possible, and improves chances of regaining function and independence.

Todays’ busy lives are challenging for many people to have time to gain knowledge and skills to take care of our loved ones. Our specially modified curriculum gives skills to our caregivers to take care of the wide range of clients in all age groups and determinations, from children to the elderly. We are focused on all aspects of respectful, patient and loving care of the determined client.
